Eric, clutch longevity depends on many factors. Riding style, environmental conditions, maintenance, type of oil used. I've been using synthetic oil, mostly ride freeways and never try burnouts or drag race the bike. I just passed 47,000 miles last weeks and the clutch seems to be doing fine. If you have a clymer manual, perform a major adjustment at the case. If that doesn't work, it's time to replace the clutch plates. If you do it yourself, remember that you will need to buy or fabricate a special tool to remove the clutch basket.
